Q: What is your deposit policy?

A: 50% of the contract total, including the non-refundable retainer in its entirety is due within two weeks of receiving the proposal.  For any wedding booked within three months of the date, however, payment is due in full.        

 

Q: Do you offer "day of " only services?

A: Yes!  We offer "day of" coordination services for those brides who want to handle all of the planning, but just want assistance to see it all come together on their wedding day without having to do it themselves or rely on friends and family.  The service includes:  vendor contract review two weeks prior to event, confirmation of all vendors one week prior, assistance with wedding day timeline and on-site coordination for up to 5 hours.

 

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: Should you need to cancel, all Professional Service Retainers are non-refundable.  However, portions of your deposit may be refundable depending on the time frame.  This policy excludes vendors, as each contracted vendor has their own cancelation policy.  Most vendor deposits are non-refundable, no matter the reason, including inclement weather.  Blue Sky Productions highly recommends clients purchase wedding insurance for those concerned with unforseeable circumstances and would prefer the peace of mind.  The refund breakdown is as follows:

  •   11 months and prior:  up to 10% of deposit back (excludes Professional Service Retainer & other non- 
      refundable payments)
  •   3-10 months:  forfeiture of deposit 
  •   Under 3 months:  Payment of entire contract amount, PLUS a $250 cancellation/loss of business fee

 

Q: How much do you charge?

A: Our fees are in proportion to the services needed and your budget. 

 

Q: Which island are you located on?

A: Oahu.  Oahu has the most locations and options for every budget. However, we have built relationships with a variety of vendors on the neighboring islands and will travel upon request.

 

Q: Will there be as contract so I know what to expect from you?

A: Yes.  Included in each proposal is a contract outlining the complete terms of our service, including cancelation policy, deposit requirements and performance requirements for both parties.

 

Q:  How do I get started?

A:  In order for us to provide the most complete proposal based on your needs and vision, we ask that you complete and return our wedding and reception planner questionnaires.  These worksheets assist you in best outlining in detail what you want and don't want.  After we receive the information, we will then schedule a time to speak with you on the phone to go over any questions we may have for each other.  If you prefer not to complete the planners, feel free to give us a call directly.

 

Q: How long will it take to receive a proposal?

A: Once the wedding planner questionnaire(s) have been completed and returned, and an initial consultation has been completed, proposals are usually presented within 3 business days.  Each wedding is unique, however, so this may vary.  We want to provide our clients with the most complete and detailed information as possible so they may make an informed decision, so it might take a little longer depending on the breadth and complexity of services needed.  

 

Q: Do I need a marriage license?

A: You must have a valid marriage license to be married in Hawaii.  Both the bride and groom must go in together to the Department of Health.  You cannot send someone in your place ahead of time, and it is first come, first serve.  It usually only takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Q: How many weddings do you book per year?

A:  It is very important to us as part of our full-service philosophy that we not over extend our time or resources. We accept a limited amount of weddings per month to ensure our client gets our full attention and we are responsive to and in-tune with their needs.

A: Our approach is to personalize our service to your needs and personality.  While we do offer some wedding packages to simplify the process for those who prefer their convenience, we specialize in personalized design - from concept to completion. Q: Why should I hire an event coordinator?

A:  Planning any event - large or small - that runs smoothly and is successful takes a lot of hard work and detailed dedication to every aspect, not to mention the stress that it puts on the event host or bride-to-be.  By the time you are ready for your big day, you are too exhausted from last minute preparations or constantly worried about the flow of the event to be able to enjoy yourself and your guests - which is why you threw the event in the first place!  There is also an inclination to have "family help," but keep in mind, they want to enjoy the event too, and more often than not, things get missed.  Allow a professional planner to handle the details for you - we do it  for a living for a reason.

 

Q: Do you accept referral fees or commissions?

A: Absolutely not.  Our job as professional wedding coordinators is to obtain the best options and pricing possible and pass those savings on to you.  We do not accept kick-backs or commissions on any of the services we provide or contract.

 

Q: Do you provide an Emergency Kit?

A: Yes we do!  As part of our full-service philosophy, we provide an emergency kit at each event for our clients and guests to use at no charge.  Some of the items we include are: bobby pins, sewing kit, chalk (in case someone steps on your wedding dress!), first aid kit, super glue, tape, scissors and much more!

 

Q: When should I reserve my wedding date?

A: Hawaii is one of the most sought after destination wedding locations in the world.  It is not unusual for Hawaii brides to book 14-18 months in advance!  You should book as far in advance as possible to secure your dream wedding date and to ensure the vendors contracted for your wedding are the most professional and reliable as possible.  This is even more imperative for the very popular wedding dates, i.e. "7-7-07 & 8-8-08," or around holidays.  Additional fees may apply for those types of dates.

 

Q: How can I see more of your work?

A: We understand that selecting a wedding coordinator is a daunting task since they will be responsible for the success of the most important day of your life!  We are pleased to provide additional information on request that is not included on our website - all you have to do is ask.

 

Q: Do you coordinate rehearsals and rehearsal dinners?

A: Yes.  We can coordinate them both in conjunction with wedding coordination, or on their own without wedding coordination.  Please contact us for more details.

Q: Do you coordinate other events besides weddings?

A: While weddings are our specialty, we have over 10 years of experience with corporate events as well, including retreats, conferences, holiday parties, celebrations, Election Night galas, fundraisers and much more.  We also coordinate family gatherings and special occasions.  We are a full-service event consulting company.
